Our Practice
When you first reach out to us, our intake coordinator will conduct a brief phone consultation. Acuity promotes a safe and judgment-free environment. We understand that talking about personal issues can be emotional. The intake process is completely confidential. It helps us determine your needs as well as answer any questions you may have about the types of issues that our practitioners are qualified to treat. If your case requires services that we do not offer, our intake coordinator will provide you with a recommendation to another practitioner or clinic that may be able to help you.
Once the intake is complete, the intake coordinator will determine which therapist is the best match for you under our care. We believe that 'good fit' is essential to effective therapy. We believe that the connection you establish with your therapist is at the core of successful therapy. Therefore, we put a lot of care and effort to ensure that you and the therapist are a good fit. Establishing a positive relationship with your psychologist or counsellor is important for the progress of your therapy. A good fit leads to more productive therapy and you should expect your comfort level to increase as your journey with us continues.
After the first session, it's not unusual to feel an immediate sense of relief. Usually after two or three sessions you start to gain some clarity. With feedback from your therapist you can achieve a clear sense of direction and you can start working through your difficulties. There is no commitment to ongoing therapy but your therapist will work with you to map out a session schedule which best serves your needs. Whether it's a fracturing relationship, broken trust, or working through personal challenges, here at Acuity you will find a safe haven for your inner most thoughts and emotions. We will help you build upon your strength and we hope you feel more comfortable when you leave our care than when you came in.
