Safety protocols for in-person sessions
First of all, we want to thank you for your patience and understanding during closure of our premises in compliance with the directives from the Premier and Dr. Strang during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are happy to be seeing you again. We have been working diligently to make sure that our office environment is as safe as possible for you and your families as well as our team. Our goal is to keep our community and our loved ones safe and healthy. To help Nova Scotians reduce the risk of infection, our therapists continue to offer the option of telephone or online sessions to all our clients during this challenging time for those who prefer to avoid in-person sessions.
Have in-person sessions resumed?
Yes, our therapists have resumed in-person sessions for clients who need face-to-face appointments. We are maintaining social distancing and using hand sanitizer as well as PPE during in-person appointments. Please be assured that we are following the guidelines and recommendations as set out by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and the World Health Organization. Guidelines from our licensing boards recommend that in-person sessions be reserved for clients who are experiencing a crisis or are in critical condition. Our therapists remain committed to you and will continue to offer virtual appointments if you feel more comfortable not attending in person sessions.
Below is a list of the changes we have made to our daily operations in the office.
We understand that change is difficult but it is required during these trying times and we appreciate your cooperation. Please do not hesitate to contact our office to discuss any questions you may have about our new safety policies. We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we all navigate safely through this pandemic.
Stay Safe.

Below is a list of the changes we have made to our daily operations in the office.
- Prior to each appointment, you will receive a reminder email that contains a link to our COVID-19 online form. This form must be filled out in the 24 hours prior to EACH APPOINTMENT. We will no longer be passing out any paper forms in the office.
- For everyone's safety, all people entering our office must be wearing a mask/face shield or similar mouth covering. We are only able to stock enough disposable masks for the use of our staff, so we ask that each person brings their own. Clients will be instructed to wear their masks while they are in our facility.
- It is of the utmost importance that you arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. The parking lot is going to be the new waiting room for clients who prefer to arrive early. At the time of your appointment, please proceed to our front door and once you enter, please make sure to follow social distancing protocols as per the signs in our waiting area. You can have a seat at the designated spots within our reception area. This is all new to us so we would appreciate your patience and understanding as we all adjust to the new normal. While you wait, please fill out the COVID-19 form provided in your appointment reminder if you have not already completed it.
- You will be greeted by our front staff when you enter our reception; please check in to alert them that you have arrived. They will instruct you to stop at our sanitization station to cleanse your hands on your way in and out, and will also give you the opportunity to use the bathroom prior to the session. We will not be able to accommodate breaks during the session because we need to maintain physical distancing between clients and other therapists within the facility. You will be asked to have a seat in the reception area for a couple of minutes while the therapist prepares their individual office for your entry. When your therapist is ready for you, 0ur front staff will escort you to your therapist's office.
- Our reception area has been modified. We can no longer offer water, coffee, magazines, colouring supplies or other items. You will not be able to bring food or drinks into the clinic. Seating will be clearly marked in our waiting room. These areas will be in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
- Our administrative staff are still working remotely and will continue to use contactless technology to facilitate payment processing for your session. Payment for in-person sessions will continue to be processed remotely and receipts will be emailed to you on the day of your appointment.
- Although Acuity is well known for it's family oriented atmosphere, currently for your safety and the safety of your loved ones, we have to limit the number of clients entering the clinic. Only the client is permitted into the office; no siblings or friends. If your child is a client, only one parent is permitted to escort them into the office. For clients with special needs or who need special assistance, one caregiver will be allowed to accompany them. Guardians/caregivers will also be asked to complete the Covid-19 form and wear a mask if they are accompanying clients into the waiting room.
We understand that change is difficult but it is required during these trying times and we appreciate your cooperation. Please do not hesitate to contact our office to discuss any questions you may have about our new safety policies. We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we all navigate safely through this pandemic.
